Emerging from the destruction of Germany’s cultural heritage in 1943-44, Strauss’s intensely moving meditation was lovingly opened up, its strands examined and revealed by conductor Tom Seligman, in the intimate but other-worldly setting of the Kuppelhalle at silent green.
