After last year’s acclaimed exploration of the special Haydn/Mozart relationship, join us for another evening bursting with musical energy. This time we pair Joseph Haydn — beloved master of the European music scene — with Ludwig van Beethoven, the young virtuoso who came to Vienna to study with Haydn but immediately struck out on his own astonishing path.
John Reid, one of our favourite collaborators, plays the ebullient and inventive concerto Beethoven wrote to introduce himself to the Viennese public.
Saturday 8th February, 5.45pm (until c.7pm)
St Saviour’s Church, Lupus Street, St George's Square, London SW1V 3QW
Haydn: Symphony No.83, ‘La Poule’
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No.2 — with soloist John Reid
The atmosphere is completely relaxed. No tickets required: there will be a retiring collection to help cover the costs of the evening.
